Apparently in the United States we need 2 days each year to celebrate the doughnut. One must not be enough. Thank goodness some people are spelling it different for each of the days so we can keep them straight. Today is doughnut day but the one earlier in the year is donut day, just in case you were wondering. (Who knows if this is actually true . . . the internet resources on this are sketchy. Good thing it doesn’t really matter!!)
So today, in case no one has said it to you yet, “Happy National Doughnut Day.”
I’m sure your day is complete now that you know that!
Since our life revolves around food as the family of a chef, I have all the food “holidays” on my calendar. Tomorrow is Nacho Day and Friday is Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day, in case you were wondering. (Some are obviously more fun to celebrate than others.)
We of course celebrated this morning with a quick doughnut run to get some Top Pot doughnuts. (My chef/husband has a partial day off after working 2 weeks straight. Woohoo!!)
I’m sure our children’s teachers will thank us for filling them up with sugar before sending them off to school. Sorry.
Does anyone else celebrate these silly, I mean wonderful food “holidays” or is it just us? We’ll take any excuse to enjoy food here in our home!
From one chef wife to another,
